What do you do?

I was inspired to write this post after reading this blog post by the blogger unRemarkable girl.

She writes...
one of the downsides of living with a pilot is that his job is infinitely more interesting than mine. at parties people want to hear all about the glamour of the pilot's life, or ask questions like why you need to switch off your ipod during take off. when people hear what i do for a living, they smile vacantly and then move on. so i thought i'd talk about my job today - whilst trying not to bore you to death.

I tried to comment but it wasn't working for me so in response I write this.

You know when you meet people usually the first question is "what do you do?"

I could say my job title "Membership Processor" or what I feel my job is. But both of those are not the answer I would like to say. I sometimes say I am a grad student getting a dual Masters in Library Science and a in History. Which is usually is followed by confused looks or people asking me questions about the Dewey Decimal System (which I have not memorized) or a joke saying you have to get a Masters to put away books. So after I tell them what I do I in turn ask them what they do. And sometimes that's where the conversation ends. Sad. I think sometime what we do for a living puts us in a box and from then out you are the job to them.

But I would like to ask "what are you passionate about?"

The answer to this question is writing. I have other loves my family, my church, my friends, Jane Austen, reading, and more. But my passion is writing. I love writing stories, I love writing this blog, I love writing in birthday cards, and I love writing long handed letters. I just love writing. Though this blog is not world famous and doesn't have 100s of readers (I got excited when my blog got into the double digits the other day). And I am not a published author (though I would like to be maybe never as big as J.K. Rowling). I love like writing.

Last night I went bowling with my community group (bible study) and one of my friend's asked me how was your week I said "work was not so great" but then I said "but I got a lot of fun writing done and that was good." I told her about my blog and how I am also writing a story. She might have gotten more information then she wanted but it was still great to say that even when work isn't going well my week was good because I got some writing in.

Sorry I couldn't respond unRemarkable girl I do love your blogs and photos.

P.S. Would like to wish my Dad a happy birthday. (Here he is playing with my niece...doing what he loves to do; being a grandpa.)

Please tell me what your passionate about... maybe we can start a better connection that way?

Construction Updates

Okay guys, so yesterday I wrote that inspired by the writer of Desirous of Everything I decided to revamp or reconstruct my blog. That is what I am doing, so my I am sorry my left hand bar is a messed right now as I slowly make the pages (on the top) come together. So please excuse that.

List of Updates

Pages at the top are coming a long will keep adding more and adding to them as ideas come up
Here is the Break Down

At the bottom I have put some images (I originally had on the left) that leads to websites or articles.

Big News - I have moved my story to Sister's of Pine Haven here you can read my story with out any of the thought post in between (I think that will help the flow)... hope you continue to read.

I will keep posted on more updates... If you have any suggestions or thoughts I would LOVE to hear from you.

The reason for the butterfly is simple... I am from Oklahoma City and over the last few years the airport has gone under major construction and when ever they put a "Please pardon our appearance" signs I noticed this butterfly. Saying right now this might look ugly but one day it will be beautiful. My blog is a lot like that... right now it looks kind of poorly put together but I am working on it.

Thanks for Reading,

UPDATE: AS OF 8/10/11- I have changed my background to Pink, I had it brown so it wouldn't be quite as obvious how girly I am but I have to be true to myself admit I love PINK! and my blog should show off my love. Also I think I have my left hand bar as I like it not so much cluttered text but pictures... I love pictures (I could spend hours on google image looking for the right image). Now I have to work more on my pages.

Under construction

So I still feel new to the Blogger world and I am still developing what I want this blog to look like and feel. So I am taking some time to redesign this blog.

Don't worry I will still be posting but I will also be working on the lay out of this blog. I feel the side bar got too crowded so I am going to limit how much information I have over there and create pages (tabs on top) for the things I love books, writing, fashion History, Jane Austen, movies and other things.

Like I said I will keep posting so please keep reading... I just want this blog to feel more and more like a comfy chair one could nestle into with a cup of hot coco than a chaotic mess.

I got my inspiration to change my blog around after seeking help from the creator of Desirous of Everything a blog I love very much.

Beauty is Pain

Okay so today I went to get my eyebrows and lip waxed...something I hate to do but know I have to because if I don't I feel like how Julie Andrews describes Anne Hathaway for having bushman eyebrows. But I know what I have to do. So I went and OW! When I sat up to look at my brows I had to wipe a tear away and the woman asked me if I was all right. I said "yes" but I really wanted to be like "no I hate this". But I didn't want to say that, that would be mean.

I do remember the time my mom first took me to get my eye brows waxed and it was the first time I wanted to yell the F word. I don't like pain. I guess minus a few minor things I have never experienced pain, I have yet to break my arm or really any bone and I haven't given birth to a child. I guess I have little to compare a waxing too.

I know my mom, and sister and any other woman who is reading this that has given birth is probably laughing because I complain abotu the pain of my eye brow waxing and giving birth as my mom told me is like "pushing a turkey through your nose." (Yeah can't wait for that).

Any way maybe a woman can tell me why we go through this. I know we have to, to make ourselves look beautiful but I want to know why. For thousands of years women didn't wax, didn't shave and yet I read history books and they describe women as beautiful. Anne Boyelyn's beauty was suppose to have captured King Henry's heart but yet I bet she never waxed her eye brows. Maybe I should do some research into women's beautification systems. I do like fashion history so this is not that far away from that.

So some one needs to fill me in on this?

Just re-read this posting and thought about how during my senior year of college I studied about the corset and the what pain and restrictions it did to the body and I'd rather get my eye brows waxed then wear a corset. I guess compartively we girls in the 21st century have it easier than other centuries so I should not complain too much.

Pardon my oh so random rant.
